Elder Mattie Woods
Elder Mattie has embraced her apostolic calling for many years. The Lord has used her to connect uncommon partners to alleviate health disparities, motivate and empower youth, young adults and seniors. Her voice has impacted infant mortality, cardiovascular risk reduction, mental health (depression), chronic disease management (diabetes), county and state smoking laws, smoking cessation, food security and healthy life style approaches in Allegheny County and Pennsylvania. She thanks God for using her to influence the kingdoms.
Elder Mattie is excited about connecting the faith community with universities, health systems and providers, health associations, researchers, government public health directors, local and national foundations, community organizations, residential groups, political representatives, United Way, and community leaders. She is currently the Executive Director of Centers for Healthy Hearts and Souls, a faith and health project partnering with 70 Churches. She has been purposed as a national speaker and serves on many boards and committees.
Elder Mattie has received the Women of Distinction, Circle of Courage, and several Community Service awards Elder Mattie loves being married to Deacon Gerald for 45 years and thanks God for her sons & their wives Gerald Jr. & Lydia, Gemal & Erica also spends refreshing times with her grandchildren Excel & Truth.
